GED Tutors for Spanish Speakers
Spanish-speaking volunteers are needed to help tutor adult students who will be taking the GED in Spanish. A trained teacher will be present at all sessions for support, and lesson planning is developed by the teacher. Hudson Valley Walk for PKD
Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) is a hereditary disease that causes cysts to form on a person's kidneys. Those cysts affect the kidneys' ability to function, and often over time can cause the kidneys to stop working completely. There is no cure for Polycystic Kidney Disease and few treatments besides dialysis and a transplant. The annual Hudson Valley Walk for PKD aims to raise money for research to find a cure, while creating a supportive community for those families and friends whose lives have been touched by this disease. Volunteers can do their part by assisting with event set-up and clean-up, placing signs along the route paths and directing walk participants.
Date: Oct. 15 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Organization: PKD Foundation
Location: Valley Cottage
