Holiday Weekend Train Service Announced, Libraries Host Events

And the county's Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender Advisory Board is hosting an open meeting and awards event tonight.

1. Metro North announces Memorial Day Weekend Service

On Friday, May 25, Metro North offers extra early getaway service. On Saturday, May 26, and Sunday, May 27, a regular weekend schedule will be in effect, and on Memorial Day, Monday, May 28, trains will operate on a Sunday schedule. For schedules and timetables, click here.

2.Write "Bedford is America's Most Interesting Town" story and win $1,000

Reader's Digest is running a contest and there's 9 days left to submit your story about what makes Bedford interesting. Contest officials said some of the stories Americans have shared so far include descriptions and photos of the most scenic spots in town, famous historical figures from the area and the people, places, and local businesses that make their town one-of-a-kind. 3. County LGBT group hosts awards ceremony, open mic today

The Westchester County LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) Advisory Board will hold a Town Hall Meeting Wednesday, May 23 to celebrate achievements and present awards recognizing outstanding community service. The event will take place at The LOFT, 252 Bryant Avenue, White Plains, beginning at 5:30 p.m. LGBT community members and their friends, families and allies are invited to attend. Community members with any concerns are invited to voice concerns and suggestions directly to the board. For further information, call 995-5976.       

4. Ice Cream social at Bedford Free Library

Head over to the on Thursday, May 24 at 3 p.m. for the annual Ice Cream Social. The library will announce winners of the annual poetry contest at 3:30. If you'd like to attend, register in the Children's Room

5.New Mother Goose time at KVL, Story times at BHFL

The announced an additional "Mother Goose Time" featuring Laura D'Amico. "Mother Goose Time" will now be held on Wednesdays  and Thursdays in the KVL Children's Room at 11:00am, ages 18 months to 36 months, and  a caregiver are welcome. Patrons are asked to choose one session to attend. Call 914-232-1233 with questions.
