Women-Owned Sunshine Takes On New Partner With New Expertise
From yoga classes to new strength programs, Bedford Hills' Sunshine CrossFit & Athletics is expanding offerings and earning recognition.

BEDFORD HILLS, NY — You can't get fit without moving forward and Sunshine CrossFit & Athletics is putting that adage to the test both in the workout areas and in its ambitious business plan.
The strategy is paying off, both for the fitness space's well-toned clients and the business's growing recognition.
Deb Austin recently joined the women-owned local fitness facility as a co-owner and the new head of programming. She joins Catherine Brodsky and Ana Montoya in the endeavor that has not only become a local sensation but was also recently nominated as "Best Workout" by Westchester Magazine readers.

Austin discovered her passion for strength and conditioning as a Division I college swimmer and went on to attain a bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training and a master’s in Kinesiology. She has certifications in CrossFit, weightlifting, strength and conditioning, and mobility. After eight years in California, often considered the mecca of CrossFit, Austin said she returned to the East Coast, eager to apply her experience to helping Westchester residents safely achieve their fitness goals.

Not content to rest on their laurels, Sunshine is also introducing a unique yoga practice opportunity this month.
Instructor and Bedford resident Jess Stafford will bring a down-to-earth approach intended to radiate a welcoming, "feel good," mindset. The classes will focus on approachability, love, self-reflection, laughter, challenge, relaxation and transformation. Stafford is a Registered Yoga Teacher (500) with specialized certifications in Restorative, Chair, and Ayurveda Yoga. She earned her MA in Dance Education from NYU and her BFA in Dance Performance from UMASS Amherst. Stafford is the creator of the 44 Yoga + Movement. She has over 20 years of experience teaching yoga and dance and a deep passion for keeping people active while nurturing their own inner calm and joy.

Sunshine will offer the open level yoga flow combining asana, breath-work, stretch and guided meditation on March 13, 20, and 27, from 1o a.m. to 11 a.m. Participants can attend one session for $25 or purchase the three-class series for $60.
Sunshine CrossFit and Athletics offers Pilates (TRX & Reformer), personal training, weightlifting courses, functional strength / bodyweight only sessions and rehabilitation. The facility also provides signature CrossFit WODs (Workouts of the Day). Sunshine CrossFit and Athletics is located at 56/52A Babbitt Road in Bedford Hills.
