Youths Charged in Bedford Assault
Two residents, one from North Salem, the other from South Salem, were arrested for attacking a Katonah youth.

A 17-year-old North Salem resident and an 18-year-old resident of South Salem have been hit with assault charges following an incident at a Katonah residence on May 14.
Bedford police responded to a report of a fight at a Hillside Avenue home after a resident said he was attacked outside of his home by a group of young men who approached him and punched and kicked him. He said the incident happened shortly after 12:30 a.m. while he was outside smoking a cigarette.
The Katonah man recognized his assailants, he said, who entered his home after allegedly assaulting him. Police arrived at his home and found the victim to have injuries requiring medical attention and arranged to take him to Northern Westchester Hospital.

After their investigation, Bedford police identified two suspects and on May 19, picked them up at the BOCES Tech Center in Yorktown, the career and technical education center where the youths attended programs.
The 17-year-old North Salem resident was charged with second-degree assault, a B felony. The 18-year-old South Salem resident was charged with second-degree assault with intent to injure, first-degree gang assault and first-degree burglary causing physical injury, a B felony.

Both individuals have appeared in Bedford Town Court and have been released on bail pending their next court appearance. Police are continuing to investigate the matter and may make further arrests around this incident.
