New Exotic Animal Display, Family Movie Night at KVL
Have you seen the new animal statues in front of the Vet Center for Birds & Exotics? Plus, tonight the zoning board tackles signage changes, athletic fields and more.
1. Zoning board meets tonight
Tonight's meeting of the zoning board includes requests from the in Bedford Hills for permission to modify their existing signage to include the Verizon "checkmark," which is 29 inches tall—17.5 inches higher than the height permitted when the sign is located less than 100 feet from the center of the road. In addition, Dawn White of Meme's Treats is seeking permission to hang additional signage form the awning of her business.
Other agenda items include a request from Rippowam Cisqua School to modify the special permit granted to the school in order to build two athletic fields and a request from Susan and Scott Schaevitz for a variance to construct an indoor, 1,062 square foot indoor dog training area. 2. It's a zoo out there
The a unique veterinary hospital that treats birds and other exotic pets, such as rabbits, rodents, ferrets, reptiles and amphibians, but no dogs or cats, has added curb appeal with several large, very life-like animal statues at the Center’s entrance. Multi-colored parrots on large perches, a spiny green iguana climbing a boulder, a 3-foot tall long-necked white goose, a nine-foot long orange python climbing a trellis, a big red-eyed tree frog, and a huge brown hare all are among the creatures that now flank the Center’s doors. 3. Jewelry with meaning
Robin McCormick Jewelers in Katonah posted an announcement about their new "Giving Keys," line, which allows buyers to engrave a meaningful message on a key, have it made into a necklace and gift it to someone who needs support.
4. Bedford Schools holds re-org meeting
Today at 11 a.m. the Bedford Central school board meets for its annual re-org meeting and will nominate and elect new officers and hear Superintendent Jere Hochman's goals for the upcoming year. The full agenda can be found here.
5. Family Movie Night at KVL
The Katonah Village Library says: We will provide the air conditioning, and the movie. You bring your own snack! Family Movie Night at Katonah Village Library kicks off with The Secret World of Arrietty (G) on Wednesday July 11th at 5:30pm. This animated film is approx. 94 minutes and is based on the "Borrowers" book series. Movies will be shown on July 18th and July 25th also!
