Annual Bellmore Chanukah Menorah Lighting Ceremony

BELLMORE, NY — The annual Chanukah menorah lighting will shine in Bellmore.

The Dec. 21 ceremony takes place alongside the Long Island Rail Road between Bellmore and Pettit avenues.

Religious leaders from area synagogues will join the celebratory event as the 10-foot-tall, silver menorah gets lit.

Part of the early evening "party" includes signing traditional Chanukah songs led by Hebrew and nursery school students.

Of course, chocolate gelt (money) will also be handed out to those in attendance.

It's expected to last from 6-7 p.m.

The eight days of Chanukah begin at sundown on Dec. 18.
