Bellmore-Merrick CHSD Explains Proposed Capital Project

The Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District recently released a fact sheet in which it details the benefits of its proposed building renovation project, a plan that will provide critical infrastructure updates to the district's seven buildings. 

The district said that the improvements of the proposed project will provide a healthier and safer environment for students and staff and will generate long-term financial savings through the addition of new energy-efficient building systems.

Through the proposed project, buildings in the district would receive upgrades to electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems. There will also be upgrades to security and the schools science rooms and athletic fields. 

Should the district move forward with a public vote on the project, 53.9 percent of the total cost would be funded through New York State building aid. 

The Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District has not sought a public bond vote to repair its facilities since the mid-1960s. 

The public discussion will take place at the district administration building on Sept. 25 at 7:30 p.m.
