Nearby: Lia's Pizzeria Opens on Hempstead Turnpike

Lia's Pizzeria, located at 2330 Hempstead Turnpike in East Meadow celebrated its opening day on Monday.

"It feels great to be open,"  Jack DiSalvo, owner of the franchise said. 

The eatery opened in the former PieSanos space that closed in June. It sits between Uncle Giuseppe's Italian Market and Cheaper Peepers.

DiSlavo owns three other locations of the restaurant in Franklin Square, Syosset and Oceanside. 

Along with a variety of pizzas, the franchise serves an array of traditional Italian dishes.

During lunch hour, DiSalvo watched as people came in and ordered food.

"It's the first day and it has been good," he said. "We want to see more people coming in."
