• Beloved German restaurant Oak Chalet closing in Bellmore after 40-plus years (greaterlongisland.com) — A longtime Bellmore favorite, German restaurant Oak Chalet on Bellmore Avenue will close Jan. 4 after more than 40 years, as 84-year-old owner Gisela Wedel retires following her husband’s death. The family-run spot, known for Bavarian dishes and German beers, is nearly fully booked for its final days and may be sold, though its future as a German restaurant remains uncertain.
   

• Bellmore Teen Arrested After Crunch Fitness Grand Larceny: PD (patch.com) — Police say a 19-year-old Bellmore resident has been arrested after debit and credit cards were reportedly stolen from a locker at the Crunch Fitness on Centre Avenue and then used for unauthorized purchases. The November incident led to multiple felony charges, including grand larceny, identity theft, and falsifying business records. Bellmore residents who use local gyms may want to be extra cautious with valuables.
   

• Island Trees schools celebrate their way through the fall (longislandpress.com) — Island Trees students spent the fall mixing academics with community service, including a third-grade trip to see Schoolhouse Rock at the Bellmore Theater. From sock and toy drives to ENL family festivals and math, science, and reading initiatives, teachers emphasized hands-on learning, kindness, and strong school-community ties across Sparke and Stokes elementary schools.
