Recess just got a little bit better at Newbridge Road Elementary School in the North Bellmore School District with the recent installation of two new pieces of playground equipment.

A multi-year fundraising effort by the PTA generated approximately $20,000 which covered the cost of materials, installation and wood chip surface. The project was spearheaded by the PTA executive board of Theresa Campbell, Heidi Hannula, Nicole Haugh, Pam Ricotta, Diane Visone and Sal Visone.

Principal Denise Fisher said that children are enjoying the new equipment which includes a tri-totter and a ten spin. The tri-totter is a reimagined teeter-totter that adds an extra seat and an extra path of motion, while the ten spin is an inclusive motion spinner that can hold up to 10 children. These pieces are in addition to the existing rock wall, seesaws, slides, steps and swings to give children plenty of options for play.
