Patch AM Rewind: Annual LI Film Fest Ready For Return In Bellmore

BELLMORE, NY — Some glitz and glamour comes to Nassau County with the annual Long Island International Film Expo.

Hundreds of movies from various genres and lengths were submitted for screenings and awards.

Organizers, led by Debra Markowitz, paired the movie list down to 125 for Bellmore Movies next month.

But, the film festival is more than just watching new movies.

"We have six different directors from all over the world and we have 10- to 15-minute slots for actors to come in. It's basically 15 minutes or less to impress," Markowitz, a guest on Tuesday's "Patch AM," said.

Interspersed with the screenings are panel discussions, including screenwriters and a director of photography, all within the confines of the theater off Sunrise Highway.

"The great thing about the Bellmore is it's right by the Bellmore train station," she said.

Bellmore Movies also features a stage that works well for any Q&A segments. Additionally, they will have an adjacent space, "so people can come and network."
