LONG ISLAND, NY — The National Weather Service released unofficial snow totals for Thursday for several Long Island towns.

Nassau County

  • West Hempstead- 2.3 inches
  • East Meadow- 1.6 inches
  • Manhasset- 1.6 inches
  • Plainview- 1.6 inches
  • East Williston- 1.6 inches
  • Syosset- 1.4 inches

Suffolk County

  • Mattituck- 2.5 inches
  • Sound Beach- 2.5 inches
  • Smithtown- 2.1 inches
  • Riverhead- 2.1 inches
  • Lake Grove- 2 inches

  • MacArthur Airport- 1.8 inches
  • Centereach- 1.8 inches
  • Sayville- 1.7 inches
  • Shirley- 1.5 inches

Friday will be dry, but oh so cold.

Forecast confidence in the long term continues to be relatively low although guidance is starting to come into agreement regarding a light wintry precipitation event Saturday night into Sunday, the National Weather Service says. While there is a signal for another wintry event next Tuesday, specific details, timing and amounts are still uncertain.

The full forecast:

Friday- Partly sunny, with a high near 29. Wind chill values between 5 and 15. North wind 6 to 10 mph.

Friday Night- Mostly cloudy, with a low around 18. Wind chill values between 10 and 15. North wind 5 to 7 mph.

Saturday- Partly sunny, with a high near 31. Wind chill values between 10 and 20. North wind 7 to 9 mph.

Saturday Night- Snow and sleet likely before midnight, then freezing rain and sleet likely between midnight and 3am, then freezing rain likely after 3am. Cloudy, with a low around 24. Northeast wind 7 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Sunday- Freezing rain likely, possibly mixed with sleet before 9am, then a chance of freezing rain between 9am and 3pm, then a chance of rain or freezing rain after 3pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 35. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. New sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Sunday Night- Mostly cloudy, with a low around 23.

Monday- Partly sunny, with a high near 32.

Monday Night- Mostly cloudy, with a low around 20.

Tuesday- Snow and sleet likely. Cloudy, with a high near 34. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Tuesday Night- A chance of snow and sleet. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 23. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
