Winthrop Students Appreciate the Joys of Reading
Pupils kicked off October with a Parents as Reading Partners celebration.

Third and fourth graders at Winthrop Avenue Elementary School kicked off October with a celebration of reading at a Parents as Reading Partners (PARP) event.
This year's theme. "Feed Your Mind: Take a Bite Out of Reading," began with a visit from children's book author Kathleen Bart. Bart presented her book, "The Global Gourmet" to students and shared stories about her travels around the world.Β
PARP features three weeks of activities, both in school and home, that encourage parents and other family members to become active reading partners with their child.Β
Other events scheduled for students include: a book fair, a book drive and in-class activities.Β
