13-Year-Old Girl Struck By SUV Seriously Injured
She was crossing a road near a Long Island high school when she was struck Wednesday night.

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY – A 13-year-old girl was seriously injured after being struck by an SUV in Suffolk County Wednesday night, police said.
According to Suffolk Police, the Islandia teen was crossing Wheeler Road near Central Islip High School when she was struck by a 2015 Nissan Rogue that was heading south on Wheeler Road at about 8 p.m.
The girl, who police did not name, was transported by Central Islip Rescue to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of serious injuries. The driver of the Nissan, a 47-year-old Central Islip man, remained at the scene and was not injured.

The SUV was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. No criminal charges have been filed. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact Third Squad detectives at 631-854-8352.
