Driver ID'd, Arrested After Central Islip Hit-And-Run: Police
Following an investigation, police identified and charged the driver who fatally struck a man and drove off.

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY — A Central Islip driver was arrested Thursday after police said he left the scene of a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian.
Raynard Willians, 47, faces charges of leaving the scene of an incident with a fatality, police said.
At about 8:30 p.m. on Monday, Paul Benjamin, 58, was in the roadway at the intersection of Carleton Avenue and Elmore Street, when he was struck by a dark-colored SUV. The car fled the scene southbound on Carleton Avenue.

Benjamin, of Central Islip, was taken to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore, where he died, police said.
Following an investigation, detectives determined Williams was driving the SUV.

He was scheduled to appear Thursday in Central Islip district court.
