In addition to serving the FDNY, Firefighter Moon also served as a member of the Islip Volunteer Fire Department on Long Island, including serving as their Chief of Department in 2017.

Moon's organs saved the lives of five individuals, including a 9/11 first responder and a retired firefighter.

"The Moon family wishes to express their gratitude for such a wonderful day on Saturday. It was truly a 'Celebration'," the rink stated on its website. "Everyone seemed to have a great time. Appreciation especially to all the volunteers and participants that made it a fun day."
