Field Of Dreams: LI Ducks Host Open Player Tryout
The Long Island Ducks are hosting an open player tryout at Fairfield Properties Ballpark, where hopefuls can showcase their skills.

ISLIP, NY – Do you dream of playing baseball with the Long Island Ducks? If so, now's your chance.
The Ducks are hosting an open player tryout at Fairfield Properties Ballpark on Saturday, April 12, where ballplayers wishing to join the team can showcase their skills in front of coaches and team representatives.
According to the organization, 14 players have earned contracts with the Ducks via previous open player tryouts, including pitchers Jason Creasy, Tyler Honahan, Chris Pike, Liam Pulsipher Anthony Rosati, Brandon Sherman and Bobby Vath; catchers Wagner Gomez and Francis Prettitore; infielders Jesse Russo and Edward Salcedo; and outfielders Robert Garcia, German Tapia and Mike Wilson.

At the tryout, players will be evaluated by Ducks coaching staff and team reps, including Manager Lew Ford, Pitching Coach Bobby Blevins, Bench Coach Billy Horn and President/Chief Business Officer Michael Pfaff. Players chosen by the coaching staff will play in a live, on-field scrimmage after tryouts.
Players must be at least 18, wear proper baseball attire and bring their own wooden bats and baseball gloves.

In addition, TPU/molded cleats are only to be worn while on the field and players must wear sneakers or turf shoes before reaching the field. Metal spikes and cleats are prohibited during the tryout.
The Pro-Tryout Specifications are scheduled to include:
- Warmups
- 60-Yard Dash
- Pop Time (Catchers)
- Infielders/Outfielders – Defensive Drills-
- Pitcher Warmup in Outfield
- Position Players Hit BP, Pitchers Light Bullpen (pre-scrimmage)
The tryout is not open to the public; only registered players may enter the ballpark. Players must be at the ballpark by 8:30 a.m. for registration, while pitchers must report at 10 a.m.
