Homicide Investigation Underway After Dead Man Found On LI: PD

The death of a man found in a tent on Long Island is being investigated as a homicide, police say.

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY — The death of a man found in a tent in Central Islip earlier this week is being investigated as a homicide, Suffolk County police told Patch.

Police found a dead man in a tent-like enclosure on the southside of Suffolk Avenue, near Carleton Avenue, on Tuesday around 12:30 p.m.

In a statement, police said the preliminary investigation and exam were inconclusive regarding the cause of death and an autopsy would be conducted by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office.

"We can confirm the case is being investigated as a homicide," police told Patch on Friday.

According to a report by News12, a detective told the outlet that police found "blood inside the enclosure" and "that it was murder."

The suspect has not yet been identified.
