LI Man Charged With Stealing From Gym Lockers In 5 Week Period: Cops

The man stole from both secured and unsecured lockers at LA Fitness locations throughout the county, police say.

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY — A West Babylon man was arrested and charged on Wednesday, after he stole property from fitness center lockers for a period of five weeks, Suffolk County Police said.

Carl Francois, 56, of West Babylon, was charged with 27 counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and two counts of fourth-degree grand larceny, police said.

Officials received reports of credit cards and wallets stolen from lockers, both secured and
unsecured, at LA Fitness locations throughout the county since January.

Following an investigation, Francois was arrested during a traffic stop at about 1:15 p.m. on Carleton Avenue in Central Islip, police said.

Francois is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip at a later date.
