BRENTWOOD, NY — A Brentwood man was indicted on Wednesday after he was accused of robbing a series of convenience stores and gas stations over a three-week span, Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced.

Between April 14, and May 7, Jonathan Moore, 34, entered stores and approached the cash register with items of nominal value, according to an investigation.

Moore would then ask the store clerks for an item that was for sale behind the counter.

Once the store clerks went to retrieve the item, Moore would forcefully rip the cash registers out, and flee the scene, prosecutors said.

During one of the incidents, Moore punched a female clerk in the face before running away with the cash register, prosecutors said.

After interviewing numerous witnesses and collecting surveillance videos from the incident
locations, Suffolk County Police arrested Moore on May 11, officials said.

He was indicted for robbing the following locations:

  • 7-Eleven in Islip on April 14
  • 7-Eleven in Lindenhurst on April 21
  • Bolla Market in Brentwood on May 7

“This defendant was allegedly entering convenience stores and gas stations and brazenly grabbing the cash registers,” said Tierney. “Thankfully, he has been caught, so he can no longer terrorize local businesses in Suffolk County.”

Moore is charged with two counts of second-degree robbery, two counts of third-degree robbery, and one count of fourth-degree grand larceny, before Supreme Court Justice, the Honorable Timothy P. Mazzei.

He also has pending criminal charges for another robbery that occurred at a BP Gas Station in Bay Shore on March 29, prosecutors said.

More is held on $250,000 cash, $500,000 bond, or $2,500,000 partially secured bond and is due back in court on June 13.

"We are investigating the allegations, and we'll continue to review the evidence against Mr. Moore," Scott Zerner, Esq.'s attorney told Patch.
