Motorcyclist Hospitalized After 3-Vehicle Crash On Long Island: PD

A Medford man driving a motorcycle was seriously injured in a 3-vehicle crash in Central Islip on Tuesday, Suffolk County police say.

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY —A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash on Tuesday, according to Suffolk County Police.

Steven Rodrigues, 38, of Medford, was driving a 2015 Honda motorcycle westbound on Suffolk Avenue when he collided with a 2019 Honda CRV that was turning from Suffolk Avenue to northbound Sycamore Lane around 5:11 p.m., police said. He then collided with a 2020 Lexus that was stopped in the southbound lane of Sycamore Lane, police said.

Rodrigues was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious physical injuries, police said.

Police said neither the driver of the Honda CRV, Maria Mencia, 65, of Central Islip, or the driver of the Lexus, Justin Stewart, 23, of Central Islip, were injured.

All three vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
