Pedestrian Struck, Critically Injured, In Central Islip: Police

The man had walked into the roadway when he was struck by a car, police say.

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY — A pedestrian was critically injured after a motor vehicle crash in Central Islip on Saturday night, Suffolk County Police said.

At about 8:45 p.m., the driver of a 2017 Toyota Tacoma traveling westbound on West Suffolk Ave.
struck a man who had walked into the roadway.

The man, who has not yet been identified by police, was taken to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of critical injuries, police said.

The 40-year-old driver of the Toyota was not injured, police said.

The Toyota was also impounded for a safety check.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Third Squad at 631-854-8352.
