Propane Stove Explodes In Brentwood Home, Injuring Woman: Police

The explosion happened on Wednesday, police say.

BRENTWOOD, NY — A woman was injured after a propane stove exploded in her Brentwood home on Wednesday, Suffolk County Police said.

At about 5:24 p.m., the stove exploded at an Arthur Street residence, police said.

The woman sustained burns to her head, neck and arms, Brentwood Fire Marshall Robert Kuehn told Patch.

She was treated on the scene by Brentwood Legion Ambulance and then airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital.

The Town of Islip Code Investigator, Town of Islip Fire Marshall, and Town of Islip Building Inspector all responded to the scene, a town representative told Patch.

The property is currently unsafe for occupancy, but will be able to be repaired in the future, Kuehn said.
