A 'New Image' in Eastchester

Eastchester native Marina Bonci and her business partner, Dr. Dominick Artuso, have opened up a new business here, New Image Laser & MedSpa, which you may have already seen in an exclusive report here on Patch. One of New Image Laser & MedSpa's employees is Esthetician & Skin Care Specialist Lauren Yacovone. Yacovone is an Iona alum who also studied at Rockland County's Capri Cosmetology in Nanuet. The New Image Laser & Medspa employee says she has a passion for aesthetics and for helping others to maintain healthy and beautiful skin. Patch got a chance to talk with Yacovone about her work here in Eastchester.

Patch: What is one of the most pleasantly surprising things that you found
while working at New Image, which you did not expect going in?

Yacovone: Such a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. I instantly felt like family with the rest of the staff and am truly blessed to be surrounded by such amazing people every day.

Patch: What's the most rewarding part of working at New Image?

Yacovone: I love working with the clients and educating them on how to fulfill their skin care needs. It is a great feeling to have a client who leaves feeling so relaxed, enlightened and satisfied with a treatment. I really enjoy getting to know each client personally during their session and learning about their lives beyond the “skin deep” surface.

Patch: You specialize in European facials. What is unique about that type of facial?

Yacovone: European facials include cleansing, toning, exfoliating, extracting, massage and moisturizing of the skin. In one hour, the client will receive a deep cleansing and overall relaxing experience. European facials can be performed on any skin type and people of all ages can enjoy it. Throughout the treatment, the client will be educated about their individual skin care needs and experience the effects of high quality products on the skin. I also specialize in customized airbrush tanning at New Image. Clients love the instant results of this safe way to tan, especially if they have a vacation or event coming up. Our tanning solution gives off a beautiful golden glow that makes the client look like they just came from the islands.

Patch: Can you briefly tell me about some of the aspects of developing a home
care regiment after facial treatment?

Yacovone: Without a proper home care regimen, the benefits of a facial will only last for so long. This is why it is crucial for individuals to maintain a regimen with the necessary products for their skin in between treatments. Certain rules apply for everyone, such as cleansing, toning, exfoliating and moisturizing; as well as following this procedure twice daily. The products, however, will vary and change over time, and this is why it is important to seek advice from a professional on what is right for you. 

Patch: What is the takeaway from people after they have experienced a
facial treatment at New Image?

Yacovone: I find that a client is either coming in for a facial to resolve something that is bothering them about their skin, such as acne or hyper-pigmentation or because they want to just relax and release tension for an hour of their day. I take pride in catering to each client’s individual needs. So if it is results they are looking for, I explore treatment options with the client and work to deliver them as best as possible. If it is relaxation they need, I enjoy focusing on facial massages and a more soothing experience.
