Bronxville's Cain Sets 4 More Records

Bronxville's Mary Cain has set four more records. She made history this weekend at the 106th annual Millrose Games. The event was held at Manhattan's Armory.

At the Millrose Games, Cain finished in second place in the women's mile competition. She came in behind a 23-year-old NCAA Villanova four-time champion. What really turned heads was when she beat her own national high school record, with a time of 4:28:79. The record that she broke was only three-weeks old. The initial record that she broke a few weeks ago had been in place for 40-years.

"First I was nervous, this is a huge meet obviously," Cain told USA Today's Kelly Whiteside. "But I've run a 4.32, I deserve to be in this race. Crossing that line, seeing that time, I felt woooah there you go. That's how you do it."

Cain's time of 4:28:79 meant that she also broke a national junior record for runners under 20-years-old. In addition, she also surpassed the all-time U.S. high school and junior best time for the 1,500-meter mark, with a time of 4:11:72.

Back in September, Cain was ranked fourth in the nation for female High School runners by TullyRunners.com. In 2011, Cain set the National 1500m record at the World Junior Champs in Barcelona, Spain. At that time, she also set New York State outdoor records in the 800m and Mile.
