Bronxville Second Grader Earns Top Awards At Prestigious Math Kangaroo Competition
More than 50,000 students in the U.S. and beyond participated in this year's Math Kangaroo competition.

BRONXVILLE, NY — A local grade schooler is already earning national attention for his prowess with numbers.

Bronxville Elementary School second grader Satvik Sharma has earned the top awards at the highly competitive Math Kangaroo contest. He placed second nationwide and second at the New York State level. More than 50,000 students in the U.S. and beyond participated in this year's Math Kangaroo competition, making his accomplishment truly remarkable. In addition, Sharma earned a gold medal in RSM's International Math Contest, which is a math contest in the style of European Olympiads.

"Satvik continues to show us all what happens when curiosity meets determination – turning challenges into triumphs and numbers into something magical," K-8 math coach Ashley Chippa said. "He reminds us that age is no limit to excellence, and we are so proud to cheer him on as he continues to grow, lead and inspire us all."
Sharma's second grade teacher Tevon Palermo expressed that his mathematical accomplishments are truly commendable, reflecting a profound dedication that extends beyond the classroom.

"I am particularly proud of his intellectual curiosity, which drives his outstanding problem-solving abilities, and his consistent efforts to deepen his own mathematical understanding," Palermo said.
