Bronxville Second Graders Dream Up Lego Models Of School Improvements

Bronxville Elementary School second graders collaborated with their peers and used their imagination to create and code structures out of Legos. As part of a hands-on activity in technology specialist Claire Hollocou’s class, they worked to design "quirky creations" that could make their school better.

Some students worked to build trash machines while other students designed robots that could carry their belongings.
"Throughout the project, the students engaged in the design process by asking questions, imagining solutions, planning, creating and improving," Hollocou said. "As this process can be difficult, this project is a great scaffold, giving students the support that they need along the way. We can’t wait to see what projects they design to make the school even better."
