Eastchester Restaurant Ban is 'Disservice'
Fast Casual's Cherryh Butler has some harsh words regarding Eastchester's 'Fast Casual' restaurant ban.

Fast Casual's Cherryh Butler is criticizing Eastchester's new restaurant ban. Butler not only says the ban is a mistake, but she adds that the move "goes to the extreme."
Butler believes that Eastchester's decision is "a disservice to the community members" and that fast casual restaurants bring jobs, in addition to letting "the regular Joes of the world to be business owners." She adds that Eastchester is now "missing out on some delicious cuisine."
For some background on the history of the ban, the Town of Eastchester amended its zoning code to prevent restaurants with a stand-up counter in the front and menus on the wall. The new ban will prevent restaurants like Panera Bread from setting up shop here. The ban also prevents chain restaurants from opening up in Eastchester, if the chain has 15 or more locations.
The new rules went into effect as the town's moratorium on food business applications expired. Town officials say restaurants that are here already will be grandfathered in.
