Eastchester's "Fast Casual" Restaurant Ban
The new ban will prevent restaurants like Panera Bread from setting up shop here.

The Town of Eastchester has amended its zoning code to prevent restaurants with a stand-up counter in the front and menus on the wall, according to lohud. The new ban will prevent restaurants like Panera Bread from setting up shop here. The ban also prevents chain restaurants from opening up in Eastchester, if the chain has 15 or more locations.
“You can go get your sandwich in Larchmont,” Town Supervisor Anthony Colavita told lohud's Julie Moran Alterio. “We aren’t going to cheapen the town with fast food or these formula fast-quick casual places.”
The new rules go into effect as the town's moratorium on food business applications expires this week. Town officials say restaurants that are here already will be grandfathered in.
