Twenty-nine teachers and one administrator received tenure at Tuesday night’s Eastchester School Board meeting. The educators received congratulations from school board members and applause from the audience. More than 100 residents crowded the Eastchester High School library to cheer the teachers on.
“This isn’t only an exciting night for the teachers receiving tenure, but it is also exciting for the administration, because we get to work with these teachers. And we hope to work with them for many years to come,” said Eastchester High School Principal Jeffrey Capuano.
As the school year winds down, Eastchester residents are gearing up for a vote on their school district's budget. Voters will make a decision on the $71.8 million budget May 17.
