Eastchester WWII Veteran Dies

Friends and family are remembering the amazing life of World War II veteran John Stone.

John P. Stone (Jack) of Eastchester passed away on March 19. He was born on August 5, 1926 in Checotah, Ok to Oram and Christine (nee Martin) Stone. They moved to New Rochelle three years later where John attended local schools graduating from Albert Leonard High School.

Stone served our country proudly during World War II in the Navy (Seebees). Upon returning from the Navy John joined the automotive industry and eventually became a Dodge dealership owner. He owned Gramatan Dodge in Mt. Vernon till his retirement in 1979. John went on to work as a comptroller for White Plains Lincoln/Mercury until retiring from there in 1994.

He was a member of Wykagyl Country Club for 22 years where he enjoyed playing golf. He later joined the Lake Isle Country Club where he continued his golf playing.

In 1954 he married the love of his life Jennie Resto at St. Mary's Church. Beloved husband of Jennie Stone; loving brother of Bill Stone and Jim Stone and also many nieces and nephews. Also surviving is John's "2nd family" Debbie, Tony and Anthony (AC) Caccuri, and Chris, Juliana, Christopher and Anthony Bartolini, and Sandy, Michael, Christiana Coshigano and John, Eileen, Kimberly and John Jr. Coshigano.
