Gramatan Village Brings On Ellen Rice, MSW, As On-Staff Social Worker

Gramatan Village adds personalized social work support to their service offerings.

Gramatan Village is pleased to announce Ellen Rice, a licensed social worker with eldercare experience, has joined our staff. With an impressive educational background and a deep commitment to eldercare, Ellen expands upon the support and services Gramatan Village offers to our members.

As a lifelong resident of New York, both in the Bronx and Yonkers, Ellen leverages her deep understanding of our community’s needs to create tailored support and care plans. She offers personalized one-on-one counseling and facilitates the Successful Aging Support Group at Gramatan Village. This group is open to members as a forum to develop friendships, receive support, and discuss common issues related to aging confidently and independently in their homes. Additionally, Ellen provides life transition counseling, assisting members with significant life transitions and changes. She is also available to conduct wellness and in-home safety checks and offer guidance on Medicare options.

“We are thrilled to have someone with Ellen’s expertise on-staff and to support our membership,” said Carol Godfrey, President of Gramatan Village. Ellen holds a Master of Social Work degree from Hunter College, in addition to a Bachelor of Arts in Gerontology and a Master of Business Administration degree in Health Care Administration, both from Iona College. Her 25 years of experience in area nursing homes includes both St. Cabrini in Dobbs Ferry and Amsterdam Nursing Home in New York City. Ellen has also contributed significantly to community-based programs at Amsterdam Adult Day Health Care and the LightHouse Guild Adult Day Health Care program.
