Lawrence Hospital Volunteer Dies

Miles could often be seen volunteering at Lawrence Hospital's Bargain Box.

Longtime Lawrence Hospital volunteer Marie Miles has passed away. Miles, who had a zest for life, could often be seen at Lawrence Hospital's Bargain Box.

“Marie volunteered at the Bargain Box from 1969 until 2003. She would have probably been a volunteer beyond that had her health been better. Marie was quite a woman and enjoyed very much helping out the thrift store. She also had quite the flair and really enjoyed life. We will all miss her,” said Director of Volunteers at Lawrence Hospital Center Terry Martino.

Miles was born in New York city back in 1922 to her parents Dr. John and Marie Maeder. She traveled the globe many times, visiting all seven continents. Miles was said to be happiest while traveling on the sea, often saying that she wished that it wasn't necessary to stop at ports.

Miles passed away at the age of 90 on March 10. Her memorial service is private.
