Medical Examiner: Tuckahoe Mother's Death Ruled Homicide

Daughter has been charged in connection with death.

The Medical Examiner's Office has ruled a homicide in the death of a 70-year-old Tuckahoe woman whose daughter has been charged with assault in connection with the incident.

Forty-seven year old Denise Castracucco is facing 2nd degree assault charges in the death of her mother, Dorothy Carraturo.

"The case is under investigation and the charges may be upgraded," said District Attorney Spokesperson Lucian Chalfen.

Police say they found 70-year-old Dorothy Carraturo lying on her kitchen floor February 8.  She had suffered a broken hip, abrasions and contusions. Carraturo died in the hospital a day later.

The incident happened at the 70-year-old's home on Lake Avenue in Tuckahoe. Investigators say Carraturo shared the home with Castracucco.

Castracucco is due back in court April 26.
