New Eastchester Superintendent Named
Walter Moran will take over the reigns from retiring Superintendent Marilyn Terranova.

Eastchester's Board of Education says it intends on appointing Walter Moran as its new superintendent. Moran's previous position here in Eastchester was as principal of the Middle School. He was appointed to that position back in 2000. Before coming to Eastchester, Moran was a middle school principal in Rockland County and assistant principal at Byram Hills Middle School.
“This is a proud community with rich traditions and strong family values," said Moran. "I will continue to build on the achievements of my predecessors and provide the leadership to ensure that Eastchester remains a top district that creates the opportunities and environment so that all students can maximize their potential.”
The school board is expected to formally appoint Moran at its April 9 meeting. His appointment was unanimously approved by all school board members.
“We believe that Dr. Moran will provide the leadership, vision, and high standards that we deem to be essential in a new superintendent," said School Board President David Carforo. "Given his years of experience in the District, Dr. Moran truly understands the culture and values of our community; he possesses high personal and professional integrity; he has substantial educational and administrative expertise as well as a demonstrated commitment to the utmost professional and educational standards.”
Moran will take over the reigns from retiring Superintendent Marilyn Terranova, in a district with 3,150 students and a $74 million annual budget.
