Earning the team's second-straight shutout victory, Sarah Lawrence College defeated Vaughn College, 9-0, in a Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference match at Andrews Courts on Tuesday.

Sarah Lawrence (4-5, 4-1 HVMAC) broke open a quick 3-0 lead by cruising to a sweep of the three doubles matches. In the No. 3 match, HVMAC Rookie of the Week Cameron Basham (Los Angeles, Calif., John Marshall) teamed with the league's Player of the Week Nathan Thompson (Portland, Ore., Lake Oswego) to blank their Warrior opponents, 8-0.

In the No. 1 match, juniors Phil London (New York, N.Y., Horace Mann) and Aman Banerji (New Delhi, India, The Shri Ram School) won their first five games en route to an 8-1 victory. At No. 2 doubles, senior Shotaro de Bourbon (Paris, France, International School of Paris) and sophomore Elliott Warkus (Waimea, Hawai'i, Parker School) paired to win their match, 8-2, and put the Gryphons in front 3-0.

In singles action, the Green and White continued to dominate while Vaughn (1-6, 1-3 HVMAC) struggled to put games on the scoreboard. Thompson won his seventh-straight singles match by sweeping his No. 6 match, 10-0. Moments later, Basham earned the team's victory-clinching point with his 10-0 shutout in the No. 5 slot.

London faced a strong Vaughn opponent in the No. 1 position but was able to secure a comfortable 10-3 win. Playing at No. 4, Warkus picked up the Gryphons' fourth shutout of the day, blanking his foe 10-0.

Banerji jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the No. 2 match and won four straight games to conclude his 10-2 win. In the last match on the courts, de Bourbon found himself trailing 4-3 but won four straight games to lead 7-4 before finally closing out a 10-7 match.

Sarah Lawrence is slated to host Bard College on Saturday at 1 p.m. Expected inclement weather may force postponement or relocation of the match; updates will be posted at www.GoGryphons.com.
