Sarah Lawrence Sweeps HVMAC Volleyball Awards

Men's volleyball player Harrison Holmes has been selected as the HVMAC Volleyball Player of the Week.

Sarah Lawrence College men's volleyball player Harrison Holmes (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., Webb School) has been selected as the Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference (HVMAC) Volleyball Player of the Week, while teammate Chris Manfugas (Teaneck, N.J., Teaneck) was tabbed as Volleyball Rookie of the Week, as named by the league on Tuesday.

Holmes earned his fifth Player of the Week honor of the season after setting two program records in Sunday's HVMAC match against Yeshiva University. The sophomore racked up 24 kills in the match including a record nine kills in the fourth set.

Holmes went on to slam home nine more kills in the day's second match against Berkeley (N.J.) College. In the two contests combined, he also had six digs and four blocks. Holmes now averages a league-best 3.48 kills per set.

Manfugas was selected as the season's first Rookie of the Week honoree after he anchored the Gryphon defense last week. The first-year player led the team in digs in both matches of Sunday's tri-match. Against Yeshiva, he had 14 digs, while he added another 13 digs against Berkeley.

With 3.38 digs/set on the day, Manfugas improved his average to over 2 digs/set on the year. He also contributed seven kills and two service aces on the day.

Sarah Lawrence hosts its final match before spring break when the Gryphons face Purchase College on Friday at 7 p.m. at Campbell Sports Center.
