Volunteer Opportunities Of The Week: Dominican Festival

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Each week, Patch will be highlighting volunteer opportunities in the Hudson Valley. This will be a chance to help your community and be an opportunity to give back — perhaps in a way you didn't consider before.

Yonkers Dominican Festival Volunteers (Bilingual)
The Yonkers Dominican Festival is the first-ever celebration of its kind in the City of Yonkers. Volunteers are needed to help Que Paso Latinx staff its outreach table, where volunteers will assist with fun and engaging activities. Volunteers MUST speak Spanish, lift up to 15 pounds, and feel comfortable engaging with community members of all ages.
Date: Aug. 26 from noon to 6 p.m.

Native Plant and Butterfly Garden Volunteers
Volunteers assist with various tasks around the Native Plant and Butterfly Garden at Lenoir Preserve, including planting, weeding and removing invasive plants. They will also have the opportunity to learn about native plants while they work. Volunteers should wear clothes that can get dirty, sunscreen and a hat, and bring their favorite gardening gloves and tools. Young volunteers and families are especially welcome!
Date: Aug. 27 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.; third Sundays

Event Photographers
Clay Art Center is expanding its portfolio of photographs from its gallery openings and events; these images could then be used in marketing materials, on social media and more. It's looking for Volunteer Photographers to be able to capture both posed and casual photos and be available for weekend or evening events.

Board Members
Board Members from varied professions are needed to contribute their time and expertise, help fundraise, and engage both their professional and personal networks to create awareness and support of Westchester Residential Opportunities. Board meetings are held four times per year (typically via Zoom); Board Members must be 30+ and able to make a personally meaningful donation annually.
