The Writing Institute at Sarah Lawrence College Celebrates 40 Years
Author Jami Attenberg headlines events celebrating the milestone on October 5

The Writing Institute at Sarah Lawrence College launched in 1983 with three classes for “adults serious about the adventure of writing.” Forty years removed from those humble beginnings, the Writing Institute has grown into a robust writing community, serving hundreds of writers of all skill levels with more than 70 online and in person classes offered every year.
In celebration of its 40th anniversary, the Writing Institute will hold two separate events on Thursday, October 5, featuring Jami Attenberg, bestselling author of seven novels and one memoir. Both events will take place on the Sarah Lawrence College campus in Bronxville, New York, and both are open to the public.
First, at 3 p.m. and limited to 10 participants, will be An Afternoon with Jami Attenberg, an intimate book club discussion focused on Attenberg’s novel All This Could Be Yours and her most recent memoir I Came All This Way to Meet You. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in conversation with Attenberg, share reflections on her work, and ask questions about her writing process. A signed copy of I Came All This Way to Meet You is included with registration, which is $165. Proceeds from this event go directly to the Writing Institute Scholarship Fund.
