Brooklyn Harvest Market & Foodtown Launch Holiday Food Drive Across NYC
Local grocers partner with City Harvest and the Daily News to collect food donations at 10 Brooklyn and Manhattan stores through Dec 25.
November 17, 2025 (Brooklyn, NY) – A group of family grocers who operate Foodtown and Brooklyn Harvest Market neighborhood grocery stores, are launching a holiday food drive at ten Brooklyn and Manhattan locations now through December 25, 2025 in partnership with City Harvest and the New York Daily News.
During this period, each store will feature donation tables at the front entrances, offering customers suggestions for food donations. Shoppers are encouraged to purchase items for donation, contribute additional groceries, or bring non-perishable food from home to place in the donation bins.
“We enthusiastically support the work of City Harvest. Food insecurity is a growing problem in communities throughout the city, affecting families, seniors, and children alike. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference in ensuring that no one in our community goes hungry” expressed Daniel Wodzenski, Regional Manager.

City Harvest reports that average monthly visits to food pantries and soup kitchens in New York City are at an all-time high, with one in four children uncertain where their next meal will come from. This food drive is part of a citywide effort to ensure families facing financial hardship and cuts to federal food assistance programs have access to nutritious meals.
For those who cannot visit the stores in person, donations of 100 pounds or more will be picked up by City Harvest trucks, or can be dropped off at participating firehouses, police stations, or Apple Bank locations. Monetary donations are also welcome, just $10 helps feed a NYC family for a week. More information is available at cityharvest.org/dailynewsdonate.
