Coastal Flood Advisory For New York City: Here's What You Need To Know
Forecasters said that the high tides would result from the full moon and not rain, which the city desperately needs.

NEW YORK CITY — In case the brush fires in New York City or the drought watch weren't enough for you, the National Weather Service in New York City has now issued a Coastal Flood Advisory, effective from early Thursday morning to 1 p.m. on Friday, indicating that all five boroughs should brace for potential tidal flooding along the coastlines.
The National Weather Service's NYC forecasters said that the high tides would be a result of the full moon on Nov. 15, and not rain, which the city desperately needs.
"This should cause minor coastal flooding during the morning high tides from today through [at] least Saturday. Flooding could be moderate in spots along the south shores of Nassau and Queens this morning and Friday morning," National Weather Service's NYC forecasters said.

Forecasters said that water levels along the coast could rise to one foot above minor flood thresholds, typically between 1.5 to 2.5 feet above the mean higher high water level.
Residents near tidal coastlines are encouraged to plan for potential road closures and basement flooding, Meteorologist Brian Ciemnecki told Patch.

"A lot of it depends on where you live," Ciemnecki said. "If you're in an area that's pretty prone to getting some water in the yard or basement, just be prepared for that during the next few tide cycles."
Based on the latest guidance, Ciemnecki said the flood advisory could last until the Saturday morning high tide cycle.
Forecast details for the New York City area show mostly cloudy conditions, with a high near 47 degrees for Thursday and 56 degrees for Friday.
Moving into the weekend, the forecast predicts clearer skies and temperatures gradually warming up to 59 degrees by Saturday, maintaining sunny and clear conditions through to the next week.
