PHOTOS: Suspected Gunmen Wanted In NYC Shooting That Injured 6 Teens (patch.com) — Brooklyn readers are being asked to help identify two suspected gunmen wanted in a Sweet 16 shooting outside Burbuja Events on Atlantic Avenue that injured six teenagers. NYPD released surveillance photos showing the masked men, who fled on foot toward Ashford Street, and say all victims are in stable condition as a possible gang-related investigation continues.
   

2. Shooter Who Killed Stranger Near Barclays Center Gets Jail Time: DA (patch.com) — A Brooklyn judge sentenced 53-year-old Matthew Passaro to 25 years to life for fatally shooting Staten Island resident Stephen Vargas near the Barclays Center in Boerum Hill back in 2017. Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said the case reflects ongoing efforts that have helped push local gun violence to record lows, while acknowledging the lasting pain for Vargas’ family.
   

3. 4 People Injured After Massive Fire Engulfs Brooklyn Matzah Bakery (patch.com) — An intense five-alarm fire tore through a Borough Park matzah bakery on 36th Street early Wednesday, injuring three civilians and one firefighter. Crews battled flames and a partial building collapse, with the trapped firefighter successfully rescued and all victims taken to local hospitals. FDNY investigators are focusing on the bakery’s rear area as they work to determine the cause.

Brooklyn Gets New a Center to Help Trauma Survivors Heal (bkreader.com) — A new Trauma Recovery Center has opened at 25 Chapel St. in Downtown Brooklyn, offering free, trauma-informed services to crime survivors and others facing serious violence-related harm. Funded by the City Council, it’s New York City’s fourth such center and joins other Brooklyn-based programs in East Flatbush and Coney Island, expanding mental health, legal, and support services for vulnerable residents.
