Knife-Wielding Man Shot In Police-Involved Shooting Inside Brooklyn Hospital (patch.com) — A police-involved shooting inside NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital in Park Slope left a knife-wielding man wounded and prompted officers to warn people away from Sixth Street and Seventh Avenue. Authorities say the man’s condition is still unknown, and investigators are working to determine what led to the confrontation as a heavy police presence remains around the hospital.

2. Pinnacle's 5,100 rent-stabilized apartments head to auction despite Mamdani's objection (crainsnewyork.com) — Thousands of tenants in Brooklyn and other boroughs face uncertainty as 5,100 rent-stabilized apartments tied to landlord Pinnacle head to auction despite new Mayor Mamdani’s objections. City officials, speaking from a Brooklyn building in the portfolio, say they’ll keep fighting for repairs, code compliance, and enforcement of rent-stabilization rules.

3. 5 Brooklyn hospitals reach tentative agreement to avert NYSNA nurses strike (brooklyneagle.com) — Nurses at five Brooklyn safety-net hospitals have pulled back a planned strike after management agreed to continue fully covering their healthcare benefits, and they hope to finalize contracts by Friday. 4. A cargo drone will be flying between Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn through Jan. 23 (brooklyneagle.com) — A weekday cargo drone test will fly over the East River between Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Jan. 23, staying only above water. City officials say it’s a trial for future sustainable freight and air-transport infrastructure based out of the revamped Downtown Manhattan heliport.

5. 300 synchronized drones will light up sky off Greenpoint this Sunday (brooklyneagle.com) — Hundreds of synchronized drones will light up the Greenpoint waterfront Sunday evening in a short “Balloon Signal of Support” show backing children’s hospitals, with organizers highlighting the corner of West and Noble as a prime viewing spot for Brooklynites.
