Pop Star Sabrina Carpenter Jokes She Got Mayor Adams Indicted

The star jokingly asked her fans if she should discuss the indictment, referencing her controversial music video in a Brooklyn church.

BROOKLYN, NY — Pop singer Sabrina Carpenter joked to her fans during her concert at Madison Square Garden on Sunday about her role in the recent federal corruption charges of New York City Mayor Eric Adams, saying, "Should we talk about how I got the mayor indicted?"

Well, Adams was indicted on five counts of accepting illegal campaign contributions and bribes last Thursday, but Carpenter didn't play a role in it (as far as we know, anyway).

But, though she didn't get Adams indicted, the singer did film a controversial music video for her song "Feather" inside Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Williamsburg, which federal prosecutors have recently subpoenaed as part of the ongoing investigation into Adams and his inner circle.

Shortly after the 25-year-old singer released the music video in November 2023, which includes murder and neon bejeweled crosses, Monsignor Jamie J. Gigantiello was stripped of his duties by the Diocese of Brooklyn, The New York Times reported at the time.

Gigantiello has not been charged with anything, but federal investigators are requesting information about his business dealings between Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and Adams' former chief of staff, Frank Carone, who has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for Adams' reelection campaign, NBC New York reported.

Carpenter is performing her last show on the New York City leg of her "Short N' Sweet Tour" at Barclays Center on Monday night at 7 p.m.

The Brooklyn Diocese of Brooklyn did not respond to a request for comment.
