Rain Threatens NYC Labor Day Weekend Forecast: See Timeline
Scattered showers could interrupt Labor Day weekend plans around the New York City area. See when, and how much rain is likely:
NEW YORK CITY — An at least somewhat rainy Labor Day weekend appears to be on tap for the New York City area, with a couple of chances for storms to impact the region, according to forecasters.
However, the storm fronts are not anticipated to be severe.
The first chance for rain is early Friday morning, with a possible overnight shower between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m.

Then, on Saturday, there will be a slight possibility of thunderstorms in parts of the area and a 40 percent chance of rain during the day. On Saturday night, there will be an 88 percent chance of rain.
The following day, there will be a 60 percent chance for rain with a couple of scattered morning showers, the National Weather Service says.

Rain will peter off by later Sunday morning at the latest and leave the region mostly clear by Sunday night. Monday is forecasted to be early autumn-like, with partly cloudy skies and a high of 76.

Mostly cloudy, with a low around 65.
Friday
There's a 66 percent chance of rainfall between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Friday, but the rainfall is expected to amount to less than a tenth of an inch. After that, Friday will be mostly cloudy and windy, with a high of 72 degrees.
Friday Night
Mostly cloudy, with a low of 66 degrees. The winds will calm down in the evening.
Saturday
Mostly cloudy and humid, Saturday will have a 40 percent chance of rain during the day, with a 24 percent chance of thunderstorms and a high of 89 degrees. Rain is expected to fall between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m., and then again at 7 a.m. New rainfall amounts to less than a tenth of an inch.
Saturday Night
Weather officials predict Saturday night will be cloudy and humid, with an 88 percent chance of rain and a low of 70 degrees. The rain is predicted to fall between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m., with possible thunderstorms and more than a quarter of an inch of rainfall.
Sunday
Mostly cloudy and humid with a high near 85. Some morning showers are expected, and the chance of precipitation is 60 percent. In the afternoon, there is only a 25 percent chance of rain.
Sunday Night
Mostly clear, with strong winds and a low around 67 degrees.
Labor Day
Sunny and breezy, with a high near 76. It will be less humid and the best weather of the holiday weekend. There will be less than a 10 percent chance of rain.
Monday Night
Clear and windy, with a low around 59.
