Rainstorm Looms Over NYC Thanksgiving: See Storm Timeline Here

NEW YORK CITY — Forecasters say Thanksgiving in New York City is going to be a cold and rainy one.

According to the National Weather Service, there is now a 100 percent chance of rain on Thursday morning and afternoon, lasting until 3 p.m., with a high of 49 degrees and a low of 37 degrees.

Forecasters predict it will be windy, too, with northwest gusts blowing from 10 to 16 miles per hour.

The rain is expected to start in the city overnight, around 4 a.m. on Thursday, according to forecasters.

So, if you're heading to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday morning, which starts at 8:30 a.m., make sure to dress warmly and bring an umbrella.

Forecasters say around three-quarters of an inch of rain is expected to fall. Ultimately, the rain is something to be thankful for — New York desperately needs the rain given the ongoing drought.

Through the weekend, temperatures are expected to drop further, with a high of 38 degrees on Sunday.

An 100 percent chance of rain, mainly before 3 p.m. High near 51 degrees, with the wind blowing 7 to 10 miles per hour. The city could get between a half and three-quarters of an inch of rainfall.

Thursday night
Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming clear, with a low around 36. West wind 8 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph.

Friday
Mostly sunny, with a high near 46 degrees and windy gusts as high as 20 mph.
