Rapper Busta Rhymes Charged With Assaulting Assistant In Brooklyn

Rhymes turned himself in to the police on Tuesday and currently faces three assault charges

BROOKLYN, NY — Rapper Busta Rhymes has been accused of allegedly assaulting an assistant in Brooklyn last week, police said.

Rhymes, 52, whose real name is Trevor Tahiem Smith Jr, is accused of punching a 50-year-old assistant multiple times in the face on Jan. 10 in Dumbo, according to multiple media reports.

Rhymes turned himself in to the police on Tuesday and currently faces three assault charges.

The 50-year-old man was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull in stable condition, police said.

The incident may have stemmed from a dispute with his assistant over being on his phone while working, the New York Post reported.
