Teen Moped Rider Fatally Struck By Trailer In Brooklyn: NYPD

A driver fled the scene after police say he hit a 19-year-old moped rider in Sunset Park.

SUNSET PARK, NY — A 19-year-old moped rider died Saturday after a trailer turned into him in Sunset Park, police said.

Josue Mardoqueo Vicente Yac, 19, was riding a moped on Fourth Avenue near 39th Street — not far from his home — when he was hit by a trailer turning right onto 39th Street, according to the NYPD.

The 19-year-old was sent to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver initially fled, but later went to police to share information, police said.

Police had made no arrests Sunday.

This is the 51st injurious crash this year on just a one mile stretch of Fourth Avenue near between 36th and 57th streets, according to NYC Crash Mapper.

And just last week, a pick-up truck slammed into a 66-year-old woman pushing a 2-year-old in a stroller in Bath Beach, police say. The woman was pronounced dead and the young child had scrapes and bruises, according to the NYPD.
