Verrazano Bridge Worker Injured After Fall, Authorities Say
A construction worker was injured on Monday after falling about 15 feet from a cat-walk on the Verrazano Bridge.

VERRAZANO-NARROWS BRIDGE, NY — A construction worker was injured after falling 15 feet from a cat-walk on the Verrazano Bridge to a support beam below, authorities said.
The man, a contract worker, was on the bridge's cat-walk beneath the upper level on Monday when he fell onto the support beam, sources told Patch. Emergency responders with Metropolitan Transportation Authority and the fire department responded to call at about 12 p.m., a fire department spokesman told Patch. They were able to rescue the man and transport him to Lutheran Medical Center at about 12:35 p.m. The worker was conscious when he was taken to the hospital, but spokesmen for the fire department and the NYPD were not immediately able to provide Patch with additional details on his injuries.
The worker is employed by Tutor Perini, sources told Patch, the construction company that was awarded a $235.7 million contract to replace the upper level roadway of the bridge. (For more New York City news, subscribe to Patch news alerts here.)
