East New York Running Track Will Get $3 Million Upgrade
Linden Park's running track, covered scuff marks and prone to floods, will get a $3 million renovation in the next few years.

EAST NEW YORK, BROOKLYN — A worn-down running track prone to massive floods will get a $3 million renovation next year, city records show.
The Parks Department is accepting bids to repair the Linden Park running track near Linden Boulevard and Vermont Street in 2018, according to the City Record.
Parks officials are now accepting bids from $3 million to $10 million to replace the ¼-mile rubber track, which residents said is beaten up and prone to floods.

Yelp reviewer Ayanna S. posted photos of scuff marks and an enormous puddle that covered half the track, which she called “A staple for a community that is in desperate need for it.”
“Tracks have worn down becomes flooded when it rains,” wrote the reviewer. “Is in great need of repair.”

Parks officials hope to procure a bid and release a construction timeline by August 2018, but estimated the project would be completed after about 12 to 18 months.
A Parks Department representative did not immediately respond to request for comment.
